First sailing trials have shown that her J&J-designed hull performed as predicted by VPP in light winds (8 knots boat speed in a wind of 5.5 knots) and her motoring speed was 13 knots @ 2500 revs per minute.

The Shipman 80 retained the absolute ease of handling of her smaller sisters and the Rhoades/Young-designed interior accentuated the light and open feel of the pilothouse concept.
