Slovenia. The first Shipman Cup welcomed guests of the international Shipman Family

Idea
“Our vision was to create a sailing yacht for visiting the world’s most attractive cruising grounds, easy to handle, comfortable and yet would not sacrifice the feel and speed of a racing craft. She would need to be reliable and seaworthy in all conditions, simple to control and capable of sustaining high speeds under sail or engine for an extended period, with a minimal crew. I still remember the special atmosphere by the launch of the first Shipman 50…” Japec Jakopin, cofounder of Seaway Group - producer of Shipman and owner of the trademark.
In 6 years, thirty Shipman yachts from 50 to 80 feet were launched and the Shipman family has been growing and growing. In 2009 the company is in front of the imminent start-up of the new plant in Monfalcone (Italy). This yard will be able to produce boats up to 150 feet and will offer 35 mooring places in the marina in front of the plant for our customers. To celebrate this important step, the idea and wish to gather together the members of the Shipman family spread all over the globe in a special event finally became reality in form of Shipman Cup.
A range of components for the sailboat and powerboat industry is designed and manufactured in the Components division. This is currently the world's largest producer of sailboat rudders with bearings.
